Covenanting Ceremony in the Eastern Region
March 19, the Feast of St. Joseph, was the day when Associates and Sisters of the Eastern Region gathered to celebrate Covenanting Day! As Sheila Lemieux, CSJP pointed out it, this ceremony was a first because no Associate’s covenant was up for renewal and no pre-associates were ready to pronounce a first covenant.
Those present used the occasion to solidify their commitment to each other and to the charism of peace through justice: We are here today to offer praise to God who is our strength … we are here today to offer challenge and support to each other and a renewal of promise on behalf of all life that is poor and oppressed.
After communion Eileen McCann, CSJP-A, Associate Co-Director, remembered Pat O’Malley-Cohn, Mary Clark, and Kathleen Jacob. All three are Associates from the region who have died this year.
After the liturgy, the large number of people who were present continued the celebration by sharing a delicious meal and great conversation at St. Peter’s auditorium. We were grateful to have participated in an extremely life-giving event!
