CSJP Statement on President Obama's Executive Action for Immigrants

The Leadership Team of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Peace, want to express our appreciation for the actions taken last evening by President Obama to remove the threat of deportation for millions of families who have been living and working in the United States for years. It is past time that some actions be taken for the many families who are living under the threat of immanent deportation. Most especially, it is important to end the fear of children that when they come home from school or work their parents may not be there.

Sisters Professing VowsFour Women Profess Vows at Chapter

We celebrated the first ever profession of vows at a Congregation Chapter on September 6, with not one but four women professing vows as Sisters of St. Joseph of Peace at a Eucharist liturgy. Dorothy Verna was welcomed into full membership and professed perpetual vows. Katrina Alton, Sheena George, and Juliana Ngozi Iwuagwu made their first profession in the congregation.

Helping Women and Children

Former and current residents of St. Joseph Home, a program of the York Street Project, in Jersey City, NJ returned to celebrate the 25th anniversary of St. Joseph Home. Many brought their grown children AND grandchildren to celebrate and give thanks for the importance in their lives of St. Joseph Home and the staff.
