Celebrating Jubilees in the UK in 2021

It was with great delight the Sisters in the UK Region were able to gather for the first time since before the Pandemic on Tuesday 12 October at Rothley Court Hotel in Leicestershire to give thanks and celebrate with our Jubilarians of 2020 and 2021.

In all 12 Jubilarians were celebrated with joy although sadly two were unable to be present for different reasons. The 2020 Jubilarians were Anne Maria Doyle 80 years, Olivia Killeen and Bridget Rhattigan 70 years with Breege Leddy (RIP) remembered in prayer and Ann Helen Byrne 50 years. The 2021 Jubilarians were Mary Campion 85 years (who was unable to be with us in person), Eileen Byrne 70 years, Mary Doyle. Kathleen McBride Andrea Nenzel and Leila Walsh each celebrating 60 years. The weather was reasonably good, and the day was perfect with a relaxed atmosphere. Laurette Bergin warmly welcomed us to our joyful celebration beginning with a beautiful prayer service which concluded with the Jubilee song.

“Let the trumpet sound to announce the year.

Let it tell God’s people that their time is here.

Like a living stream, let mercy flow,

Like a mountain high, let justice grow,

Let the reign of God from sea to sea

Ste captives free, Cry ‘Jubilee’.”

We were especially pleased to have Andrea join us for the occasion and celebrate her Jubilee as she had been in the Region just a few days on her first visit as Congregation Leader. We offer congratulations to each of the Sisters from all of us and may God continue to bless and guide each of you in the years to come.
