At the 22nd Congregation Chapter, held in September 2014 in Seattle, Washington, the following Chapter Call was approved.
The Chapter Call is an affirmation of the Congregation's work prior to Chapter, a distillation of the participants' responses to the presentations, discussions, prayer and sharing at the Chapter itself, and a strong call to the future. Unanimously affirmed at Chapter, the Chapter Call provides a guiding principle for the many decisions that will engage and challenge the Congregation in the coming years.
Disturbed by the Spirit, we recommit ourselves to Jesus' way of radical hospitality.
We are called to a deeper and wider living of community for mission in company with poor and marginalized people. Our contemplative discernment pushes us, individually and as Congregation, to action; deeper mutual support enables us to take risks for justice, peace and the integrity of creation.
As disciples of Jesus, we respond anew to the call of Mother Clare to be "brave, noble, large-minded and courageous souls."
"The prophet does not compel, but asks people to see themselves, the world, and God in a new way."
