Back to Our Story: What's New

Advent Reflections at St. Mary-on-the-Lake
December 9, 2006

Bringing Christ to Birth was the theme for our Advent Reflection Day, Saturday, December 9th, at St. Mary-on-the-Lake. Fr. Marlin Connole, who led the day's retreat, asked us to look at the various ways in which John the Baptist, Mary and Joseph brought Christ to birth - and then to look at how we also are called by God to bring the Christ to birth in our lives.

Participants were invited to reflect by walking the labyrinth (photo, above) or joining in Taize chants or meeting in small groups to share reflections. Lunch gave us time for lighter conversation and making new friends. Taking a day away from the busyness of the commercial Christmas rush to listen to the quiet music of our souls was, for all of us, priceless.
