More than 3,000 Seattleites turned out on a rare sunny day, Saturday, January 27th, to ask for an end to the Iraq war. Among them were Sisters Julie Codd, Louise DuMont and Margaret Shannon, Associate Lorraine Johnson, and Notre Dame Sister Liz Tiernan, a long-time friend of the community. The Peace March began at the Center for Social Justice in downtown Seattle; participants included Buddhist monks, Iraq Vets Against the War, an actress playing Eleanor Roosevelt, people from a variety of political backgrounds, and many peaceful, determined Seattle citizens.
