Sister Alexandra Kovats was Conference Spiritual Director for the 2007 Conference of Spiritual Directors International (SDI), held April 11-15th in Vancouver, B.C. Alexandra's focus on ecological spirituality was a perfect fit with the conference theme, "Coming Home to the Cosmos." Her task for the conference was to help participants connect their work in spiritual direction with the cosmological perspective given by keynote speaker Dr. Brian Swimme. This was easy for Alexandra, as they have long been colleagues and have often presented together at conferences.

In addition to her ministry as spiritual director for a few fortunate souls, Alexandra teaches a number of courses in the spiritual direction track at Seattle University's School of Theology and Ministry, and is known internationally as a presenter at conferences and retreats.

The tree that Liz Budd Ellman presented to the Sisters of St. Joseph of Peace in thanks for our sharing in SDI's ministry of Spiritual Direction was ceremonially planted at St. Mary-on-the-Lake during our Earth Day forest restoration work day. Spiritual Directors International have their offices at St. Mary-on-the-Lake and share with us the peace and beauty of our lakeside home.
