Sr. Sheena George and Associates Donna Clifford, Bryan Johns and Frank McCann represented the CSJP congregation at the refugee camp in Calais France from the beginning of August through the middle of October. In the months since their return they shared their experiences and what they learned and discerned what they wanted to share. As a result, they prepared "The Calais Group Report to the Congregation." They hope it will be helpful in efforts in all regions to serve immigrants, refugees and asylum seekers.
Additionally, Brother Johannes who ran the St. Maria Skobtsova Catholic Worker House in Calais wrote a reflection called "The Jungle is Finished” on the destruction of the camp which happened right after the CSJPs left.
"So Christ is our model and in order to imitate Him we have to do strange things – things that seem almost inexplicable, but at the last days, when our work is taken off the loom of life, we shall see the beauty that comes into our soul by this work."
