Patricia "Pat" O'Malley was born in Union City, NJ on September 12,1934. She was the daughter of John and Grace Bohland O'Malley. Pat had one brother, John. As an infant, she was baptized in the Lutheran Church. At age 18 Pat was baptized a Catholic. She graduated from Union City High School in June, 1953. Pat moved to Ridgewood, NJ, where she married, resided and raised her eight children: three daughters, Patti, Kathy and Peggy and five sons, Michael, Jack. Tom, Timothy and Kevin. Pat and her husband divorced in 1970. She raised her 8 children alone. Pat was a woman of strong Faith with a warm and independent spirit. She lived by the Christophers's Creed, " it is better to light one candle than to curse the darkness." Throughout her life she continued to study and learn what was needed to strengthen her career path and to help her family. She graduated from Columbia University with a degree in Library Science. Pat also took a wide variety of post- graduate courses, including Banking, Finances, Education, Theology and Global Issues among others. In the year 2000, her children now raised, Pat moved to Lakewood, NJ. She became a very active parishioner in St. Dominic's Church in Brick, NJ.

Through her work with the Christophers and her commitment to Pax Christi, she responded readily to the invitation to become an Associate member of a Community with a charism dedicated to peace and justice. On March 30, 2008, Pat O'Malley made her Associate Lasting Covenant. She wrote,
"Throughout my 25 years as an Associate, I have tried to reflect the quest for peace through
justice that has been imbued through relationship with the Community. Being part of this like-minded support family has served as a beacon of light when often the world has reflected
darkness."

During the last decade of her life, Pat suffered a series of physical set backs, including pneumonia, congestive heart failure and fluid on the lungs. On July2, 2016, Pat died at home. "So Christ is our model and in order to imitate Him we have to do strange things – things that seem almost inexplicable, but at the last days, when our work is taken off the loom of life, we shall see the beauty that comes into our soul by this work."

Mother Evangelista (Honoria Gaffney)
